Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats are an easy dessert the whole family will love. They are the healthy version of the original rice krispie treats with no butter and marshmallow used. For the base, I only use 3 ingredients, which are peanut butter, rice krispies, and honey. Then, I finish these bars with a chocolate topping, because chocolate and peanut butter are perfect together. They taste just like a peanut butter cup. They are nutty, sweet, and gooey with a little crunch, which is perfect to satisfy your sweet tooth craving.
How to Make Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats
Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats are very easy delicious treats with just only 3 ingredients and require no time to make. Let me walk you through how easy it is to make these treats.
1. Combine the ingredients
Firstly, you need to heat the honey just until it is warm with low heat. Then, I add the peanut butter into the honey until well incorporated. The warm honey will melt the peanut butter so that the mixture is smooth and easy to handle. After that, add the rice krispies into the mixture and mix until well incorporated.
2. Spread and press the base
After the rice krispies, honey, and peanut butter are completely well blended, we need to spread the mixture into the prepared pan evenly. To ensure easy removal, lightly grease the pan and line the bottom and the sides with parchment paper. This will make it much easier to lift the bars out of the pan and slice them. Do not forget to press the mixture down so that it will stick together and be of uniform thickness.
3. Spread the chocolate topping
Adding the melted chocolate topping into your treats are completely an optional step. I love adding chocolate because peanut butter and chocolate just go together. They are perfect to satisfy my sweet tooth cravings.
4. Chill, cut, and serve
We need to chill the bars so that they can stick together for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator. For cutting the bars, you need to remove them at room temperature to slightly warm the chocolate before cutting. The reason is the chocolate topping will crack if you try cutting them when it is really cold.
5. Store in an airtight container
These treats will become soft if you leave them for too long outside. I recommend storing them in an airtight container to prevent the cereal from going stale.
